Stella^® Brand cheese originated with a small dairy operation in a northern Wisconsin Italian-immigrant farming community. The rolling pastures, clear waters and available high-quality milk led a community resident to create the Stella Cheese Company—today one of the largest cheese brands in the U.S. The brand’s first of many fine Italian cheese products was a buttery, nutty Parmesan Cheese skillfully crafted by top cheesemakers from Italy. Many of the original Stella^® Brand cheesemakers were trained formally in the preparation of Italian-style cheeses using cultures brought from Italy that are still used today.
